Abstract

The aim of this research is the calculation of the mass absorption coefficient which come from photoelectric absorption of absorption spectra of x-ray as a function of energy through theoretical analysis of x-ray mass absorption coefficient are calculated on various energies of photon from 2 keV to100 keV which incident on Al, Au, Cu, Fe and Pb. This gave information about the sample could be attained, or sample properties can be predicted to some extent. The absorption of x-rays measurement as a function of x-ray energy is a good way for understand many properties of absorption medium. In the plot which show the mass absorption coefficient μ/ρ as a function of the x-ray energy appeared that the mass absorption coefficient decreases when energy increase. All plot and calculation done by MATLAB -2014 program and some of the instructions of this program were used to determine the extent of compatibility between the results such as polyfit, polyval and table.
